02 November 2011

i must admit i can't explain.

first off, a dedication. i really should've done this sooner but now seems just as good as any.
sarah sherman, what would i do without you?
i met this girl many years ago, i'm sure, but neither of us seem to remember our high school encounters.
i think it's because something out there knew we were going to need each other someday a little further along in our lives.
when we both ended up back in la caƱada after our first half a year of college, we just kind of hit it off.
it sounds like quite the love story, doesn't it?
well it is.
between eating too much ramen, crying about boys, watching scary movies & wearing each other's dresses (i've changed the placement of the & in this sentence way too many times - i'm trying to stop the add-ons), miss sherman has become such an important part of my life.
i know that words don't mean that much, but i'm hoping these ones can at least slightly reflect how much love and respect i have for this lady.

and then, of course, there's my family.
i would give the low-down on how wonderful each individual is, but i think pops would rather me get to sleep at this point.
but seriously, watching movies and eating too much candy would be nothing without katy, steve, ali cat, and madz.
(along with edgar, bean, and the bud man, of course)
if i could blog about everything you all mean to me, it would never, ever end.
ever.
ever.
ever.

 ...ever.

10 October 2011

untitlable.

i just need to send a little shout out to the people who i love.
i am blown away by how much people can truly care about others every day.
i don't know what i would do without the relationships i have.
sorry for getting mushy, and sorry for using the word i so much in 4 sentences.
i know that this means nothing to most people,
but to the people it does mean something to...

i love you to the moon and back.

"believe in yourself and all that you are. know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle."

-christian larson

it's funny how much cheesy things can mean to you at the right times.

28 February 2011

calling all lovebugs.

i'm in love with smiling this week, more than ever,
and these few things are only a part of what's causing it:

 {bills for $47.47 at table number 47}

{surrounding myself with absurd musicians}

{happy kittens}

{baby teixeira}

{overly-descriptive signs}

{sisters}

{walle bywater}

{mila kunis's beautiful oscar style}

{spontaneous/hidden photoshoots}

{JOSH RITTER. everything about him. his concert was just as amazing as i'd hoped. in fact, it is my number one concert experience EVER. love you, j. ritt.}

the fact that mr. and mrs. facer are teaching me how to cook tonight. oh, how i love them!

also, the fact that i saw MARK SALLING at in-n-out last sunday. we had some fierce eye contact going down.

also also, the fact that it's shamrock shake season.

in addition to all of this, i even have music to keep my life company.
particularly these songs:

hello - martin solveig & dragonette
rolling in the deep (jamie xx remix) - adele
helena beat - foster the people
stitched up - herbie hancock & john mayer
gimme sympathy (acoustic) - metric
cubism dream - local natives
rise up - diane birch
white collar boy - belle and sebastian
crown on the ground - sleigh bells
neighborhood #1 (tunnels) - arcade fire
four winds - bright eyes

i hope everyone is enjoying their last day of february!
xoxo.

multicoloured mirrors.

on friday, i ran into a book at knott's berry farm.
why was i at knott's, you ask?
well, i decided to spend some quality time with the girls in my beautiful family, and tag along on their adventure.
i really do miss living with the lovely mccollum ladies.
 so anyway, on our way out, we stopped by the snoopy gift store, and i happened to come across [this book].
if you click to look inside, you'll understand what it's about.
it's simply a list of all the things that charles schulz believed make up happiness.
it was so inspiring that i decided to make up my own list.
happiness is yet another one of those words which, i believe, requires the word subjective in its definition.
so here's my definition:

happiness is...

just painted red nails.
  a purring cat in your lap.
the smell of a library book.
that yearbook message with the power to make you cry.
 discovering a new favorite song.
crossing something off your to do list.
rainbow sprinkles.
a list of your future baby's names.
christmas time.
your own bed.
role models//feeling inspired.
speaking in another language.
making a child smile.
being the receiver of the words 'you really made me feel better'.
teaching someone something new.
getting goosebumps when it's not even cold.
laughing just because someone else's laugh is contagious.
knowing you are loved.

p.s. i would like to send a shout out to mr. samuel hancock blasucci who i miss dearly.
i enjoy getting your <3 every day.

16 August 2010

farewell ride.

it's finally time.

*
i hate saying goodbye so much. who wouldn't?
you just can't feel like you get enough out of that moment when you know it's supposed to cover months in the future.
 you can't avoid feeling sad, and saying goodbye is like saying hello to your sadness.
i'm not looking forward to sitting in my room after my friends have left, thinking about all the good times we had.
 because the good times will be in the past. that's not to say they won't also be in the future, but that's all part of the unknown.

soon right now will only be memories, and that's what's scaring me.
so here's to everyone i love who's leaving me this week.
natalie (gettysburg college), claire (csun), danielle (ubc), brent (mit), paige (csuf), caroline (usc), amanda (usc), jack (ups), kate (gonzaga).
of course there are more, but honestly, this is already too many goodbyes to handle.

to all of you:

(all of the above)

i just thought i'd share a little bit of what makes my life bright every day.
i love you friends.

and SPEAKING OF LOVE, i have been thinking about it lately.

WHAT IS LOVE?
how can you know when you really love someone? how do i know that when i tell someone i love him or her, that i'm not lying? and this is just platonic love...i haven't even really begun to concern myself with 'in love' love. that's so foreign to me that i've decided not to even worry about it until it becomes part of my own experience. this reminds me that i really just want to interview people. i want to ask teenagers in love to describe it to me, versus adults who have had a marriage last, ones who have fallen out of love, experienced unrequited love, etc. i also want to ask an old person how it feels to have most of your life over...but first, i'll need to figure out a way to phrase the question more kindly.

"Love is the only sane and satisfactory answer to the problem of human existence."
Eric Fromm

(kate and i found this picture last night...we're obsessed, so i thought i'd share)

oh, and i love paige riley.

20 March 2010

twenty-two things i love.

1. the oc, no surprise.
2. cds that other people make me. aka free music AND of all different genres.
3. making my mac screen negative by pressing ctrl+option+command+8.
4. the cure. i just discovered how much i love them and will start slowly acquiring their music. just like heaven, anyone?
5. blogging. i've decided to embrace the fact that i'm grounded, and put the time towards my blog. unfortunately, it's hard to blog when you have no life aka nothing to write about. but i'll see what i can do.
6. living. self explanatory.
7. getting things done. aside from the blogging, i've also decided to get some homework and organizing done...it could be...fun? maybe i'll read.
8. red nailpolish. red nailpolish defines my life and, therefore, it always needs to be on my nails.
9. the princess and the frog. that movie is perfection. i want anika noni rose's voice.
10. slideshows. pictures and music? too good.
11. bacon. actually, just food in general. aside from being essential for my survival, it brightens my life quite a bit.
12. saying nbd. in case that hasn't already been taken note of.
13. california. i never want to leave this state.
14. reorganizing. i just got inspired by marissa cooper's room...i think i want to reorganize mine.
15. dance parties. 2 coming soon. BACKWARDS AND MORMON PROM.
16. summer. as in the season, not the character. GET HERE.
17. the name trey. one of my future sons will most definitely be named trey.
18. adventuring. but safe adventuring that doesn't include the freeway after 11pm...yes, i know i sound like a mom. i'll just embrace it.
19. LONGBOARDING. as in skate, not surf. but speaking of which...
20. surfboard coffee tables. i want one!
21. daisies. someone should get me some someday...just putting that out there.
22. pizookies. i would marry them, if possible.

i still can't be deep unless it's in person...sorry. someday depth will return.
